Cromwell Hotel Stevenage
The Cromwell Hotel in Stevenage is a classic hotel with a lot of history. It was once owned by John Thurloe, who was secretary to Oliver Cromwell. The once farmhouse home has now been transformed into a modern and decorative hotel, whilst keeping touches and reminders of its history. The hotel is well situated, near to local train stations and a short drive from Woburn Abbey and Woburn Safari.
Forest Contract were asked to supply nearly 100 bespoke headboards and bed frames, along with fixed seating and the tables to match which went in their bar, brasserie and lounge areas. Each of their orders for headboards were bespoke and eye catching, as the fluted style headboards were upholstered in a range of COM fabrics of their choosing. Each one of these fabrics were original and completely different from the last, allowing the Cromwell Stevenage to vary their décor in different rooms.
The designs (as shown below) are very mixed, as the first fabric is a plain but sophisticated dark gold fabric, and goes well with the wooden furniture and gold curtains. The next design has a triangular pattern on, and horizontal lines of different colours going across it. This design was used in two different colours which each match their respective room’s colour scheme. The final design shown below is the most noticeable, as the unique fabric features a wide variety of floral pictures in a range of colours. This fantastic range of fabric shows how versatile we are at Forest, and how bespoke items with new fabrics can be made within set lead times.
Suites
Forest also provided the Cromwell Hotel with a bed for the Astley Suite, which was a grand super king bed, with a mahogany-look wooden frame and posters, and a pale sophisticated green headboard. This is truly a statement piece, and adds the desired class and style expected from such a luxurious suite.
Forest also supplied the bed and headboard to go in the Naseby Deluxe suite. This luxury two floor suite mixes the modern, light pink headboard and scatter cushions with classic and elegant white furniture. This style is accompanied by accessories in contrasting and rich colours throughout the whole suite.
Fixed Seating
The banquette seating supplied was made in two leather colours; the majority of the pieces were red and were put into the main dining area, and the black leather pieces went near the bar. This seating was made with our fluted back style, and was straight along the wall near the bar, but was more like our radius booth shape in the main dining area. These contemporary style seating pieces were matched with contrasting white marble tables and black table bases, as well as white and orange chairs to complete the look.
Finally, some of our classic style St George sofas were provided, and were upholstered in a Designer’s Guild white and green striped fabric. Two of the sofas were two-seaters, and were placed next to the fireplace to accompany the elegant atmosphere created by the large wooden surroundings of the Cromwell Hotel.
Another stand-out piece would be these studded headboards, upholstered in a particularly interesting fabric featuring images of playing cards, money and some floral designs. These were also made bespoke specifically for the Cromwell Hotel, so they match their design ideas and unique requirements.
